Two activists of ruling Awami League have been sued on charge of felling trees worth Tk 1.2 lakh in Patgram upazila town. Senior sub-assistant engineer of Lalmonirhat railway division Sayeedur Rahman filed the case against Abu Bakkor Siddique, 45, and Rafiqul Islam, 47, members of AL town unit on Monday. Police and railway sources said the duo felled a jackfruit and two mahogany trees near Patgram railway station showing false auction papers on Saturday and Sunday. Sirajul Islam, officer in-charge at Lalmonirhat Railway police station, said they recovered two pieces of the jackfruit tree from a local sawmill on Tuesday. They were raiding different areas to arrest the accused, said the OC.
