Locals demand punishment to killer of little Saif

A human chain was formed in Kaliganj upazila town yesterday, demanding immediate arrest and punishment of the killer of Arafat Hossain Saif, an eight-year-old schoolboy. People from all walks of life, including students of seven educational institutions and leaders of local Nagorik Committee (citizeni's body), took part in the human chain at Kaliganj bus stand. Ansar Ali, president of the committee, and its secretary Hamjar Ali were among the participants. The institutions are Naldanga Bhusan Pilot School, Bhusan Primary School, Bhusan Girls' School, Aysha Khatun Girls' School, Salimunnessa Girls' Pilot School, Kaliganj Shishu Academy and Sonar Bangla Foundation. Earlier, they brought out a procession in the town in favour of their demand. Arafat Hossain Saif, son of medicine trader Nur Hossain Lotus, of Kaliganj Thanapara, was murdered allegedly by a kidnapper in the upazila on October 7 within an hour of the incident. The boy was a class three student at Kaliganj Shishu Academy, said family members. Police arrested Shakil Hossain, 20, son of Mobassher Hossain of Sundarpur village and employee of Saif's father, in connection with the killing.
