Acid attack on college girl
A college girl sustained severe burn injuries as a gang threw acid on her at Pathanbari village in Doulotkhan upazila on Saturday night.
The victim was identified as Ruma Begum, 20, a BA first year student at Doulotkhan College and also the daughter of late Hassan Ali of the village.
The victim's mother on Monday lodged a written allegation with local police station against Abul Kalam, cousin of Ruma.
Locals said unidentified criminals threw acid on Ruma through the window at about 11pm when she was asleep in her room.
Different parts of her body were burnt and she was rushed to Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile, Kalam's family refuted the allegation, saying Kalam had been living in Dhaka for the last 20 days. The allegation was brought against him due to previous enmity, they said.

In Dinajpur, a female Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinee was injured in an attack by criminals at Madhya Basudebpur in Hakimpur upazila on Monday. The victim was a class VIII student at Banglahili Government Girls High School. School headmistress Rowshanara Begam said, two unidentified youths hurled harmful chemicals on the face of the girl while she was coming out of a toilet at her house at about 9:45 am. Hearing her scream, local people rushed in and took her to the upazila health complex. Later, she was shifted to Dinajpur BNSB Eye Hospital for better treatment. Doctors at the hospital said that her both eyes were badly affected in the attack.
