BSF beats up cattle trader, takes away 2 others by force
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) beat up a cattle trader and took away two other Bangladeshis by force in three districts on Tuesday.
A Bangladeshi cattle trader was severely beaten up by BSF at Doulatpur camp of Malda in India, opposite to Chouka frontier in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj on Tuesday night, reports our correspondent.
The victim was identified as, Mohammad Mukul, 27, son of Khalaf Ali of Parchouka village under Monakasha union in the upazila.
BSF men caught the youth at around 11:45pm when Mukul and his companions approached the border to collect cattle, said Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and locals.
They took them to Doulatpur camp and beat him up, injuring him seriously. Later, they handed him to BGB yesterday morning.
In Comilla, a police official of Burichong PS was caught by BSF when he accidentally entered Indian territory while chasing criminals on Tuesday night.
The police official was identified as Nurunnabi, assistant sub-inspector of the police station, reports UNB.
Officer in-charge of Burichong PS Shahnewaz said Nurunnabi entered Indian territory by mistake while chasing a gang of drug peddlers near Ghilatoli border in the upazila at about 9:30pm.
Indian people caught Nurunnabi and later handed him over to BSF.
The police official could not be released till filing of this report at 11:00am yesterday.
A report from Sylhet adds: BSF abducted a man from inside Bangladesh land at Dona in Kanaighat upazila early Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Kalam Uddin, 42, son of Abdus Sobhan of Naktipara village in the upazila.
Local sources said the BSF members intruded into Bangladesh at about 5am and abducted Kalam, while he was collecting wood in the border area.
The abducted Bangladesh was also not released till filing of this report at 1pm yesterday.
In another incident, two other wood collectors -- Saiful Islam, 30, of Dona village and Khasru Mia, 35, of Mikirpara village of the upazila -- were injured when the Indian border guards fired at them in the same area on Tuesday.
Later local people rescued and rushed them to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
