Slain Milon's relative sues Shimul, 22 other BNP leaders

Slain BNP activist Milon Hossain's nephew Md Bachchu Miah filed a murder case with Pabna police station against BNP chairperson's Personal Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and 22 leaders of district BNP on Tuesday night. Police has already arrested two of the accused -- Pabna district unit BNP president KS Mahmud, and secretary Habibur Rahman Tota. Meanwhile, the High Court yesterday granted Shamsur Rahman Shimul Bishwas an anticipatory bail for four weeks, said Md Sagir Hossain, advocate of Supreme Court, also the counsel of Shimul Bishwas. Milon Hossain, 25, was killed and 20 others were injured as the supporters of district BNP president KS Mahmud and local municipality Mayor Quamrul Hasan Minto, also leader of an intra-party rival faction, got locked in a bloody clash over control of the district party office at Gopalpur Nagiripara in Pabna town on Monday noon. According to the case statement, the other accused are district unit BNP vice presidents Abdus Samad Khan Montu, Abdullah Al Mahamud Mannan and Toufik Habib, organising secretary Mahmudunnabi Swapon, joint secretary Nur Mohammad Masum Boga, Tutul Bishwas, office secretary Johurul Islam, Pabna Sadar upazila unit BNP president KS Musa, secretary Rehanul Islam Bulal, district unit Chhatra Dal president Himel Rana, district unit Jubo Dal president Sheikh Tuhin, Rafikunnabi Sujon, Muku, Anisul Haque Babu, Rabiul Islam, Shahin, Babul Bishwas, Rana Bishwas, Lalu Commissioner and Rana. In the case, the complainant said that criminals killed Milon following previous order from Shimul Bishwas and as per the instruction from Tota. Advocate Masud Khandaker, vice president of district unit BNP, said, "This is a politically motivated case to spoil movement of BNP in Pabna. Supported by the ruling party, expelled BNP men filed the case to harass district BNP leaders.” On the other hand, Bachchu Miah, complainant of the case, said, "I was present with my uncle Milon in the procession. When we were crossing Tulapotti area men of Habibur Rahman Tota attacked our procession and Milon was killed there.” "I have filed the case as I was an witness. Nobody influenced me in this regard," he added.
