Housewife killed in Chuadanga

Unb, Chuadanga
A young housewife was killed allegedly by in-laws for dowry at Pragpur village in Alamdanga upazila on Monday. The victim was identified as Parvina Khatun, 25, wife of Shuklal, 35, of the village. Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Local sources said Shuklal married Parvina, daughter of Salak Mia of Gangni upazila of Meherpur district, about two years ago. They locked in a quarrel a few days ago over family matters. parvina's body was later found hanging from the ceiling of her house on Sunday evening, said neighbours. Shuklal claimed that her wife committed suicide due to 'mental problem' as she could not become mother after two years of marriage. However, the victim's father and locals alleged that Parvina's in-laws killed her after failing to get dowry. A UD case was filed in this connection. We are waiting for the autopsy report to see whether Parvina committed suicide or she was killed by someone, said police.
