Three remanded in Sherpur schoolgirl killing case
Three people, accused in a case filed for killing a schoolgirl, were taken on a three-day police remand on Monday.
Senior District Magistrate Sudipta Sarkar passed the order when Gendu, Habibullah and Rezaul Karim of Mojakanda village in Nakla upazila were produced before the court by police with a prayer for remand.
Police said the accused kidnapped Marzina Begum, class IX student of Koiyakuri High School and also daughter of Maksed Ali of the village, from her house late at night on July 1 and violated her.
Later, they poured poison into her mouth and dumped her in a pond.
Local people rescued and took her to the upazila health complex where she died the next morning.
The victim's father filed a case in this regard.
Meanwhile, the victim's brother, Habibur, 18, was kidnapped from the town on September 16.
The victim's family alleged that the killers of Marzina kidnapped Habibur.
Police arrested the three men -- Gendu, Habibullah and Rezaul Karim -- on Thursday in connection with the killing of the girl.
