15 hurt as BNP men clash with cops in Gaibandha

At least 15 people, including three cops, were injured during a clash between police and BNP activists at Palashbari upazila headquarters on Saturday night. The clash ensued after police foiled a procession took out by BNP upazila unit, chanting slogans to make Khaleda's Dinajpur rally a success. Locals said when the processionists reached near Rangpur-Bogra highway, police chased the BNP men, prompted them to retaliate. The BNP activists made a counter chase and hurled brick chips at police men who fired blank shots and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. Police arrested Palashbari upazila BNP general secretary Abu Ala Moudud and activist Akhtarul Islam from there.
