Arms seized, peddlers held
Law enforcers in separate drives recovered two foreign made pistols, nine bullets, three magazines and arrested one arms peddler from Shibganj upazila early yesterday.
The arrestee was identified as Shah Alam, 30, son of late Hafizur Rahman of Monakasha village in the upazila.
A patrol team of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Monakasha camp recovered one USA made pistol, five bullets and two magazines from a spot at Parchouka frontier village around 1.00am in an abandoned condition.
In another drive, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) from Rajshahi raided a spot at Monakasha Bazar and recovered one pistol, four bullets, one magazine from a tea stall at around 3.00am.
Rab also arrested owner of the tea stall.
In Natore, Rab arrested an arms peddler with a pistol and a magazine from Bonpara bypass area under Baraigram upazila yesterday noon.
The arrestee was identified as Rezaul Karim Mollah, 40, son of Yazed Mollah of village Kamardaha under the same upazila, reports our correspondent.
Mahfuzur Rahman, assistant commander of Rab-5 said, on secret information, a team of the elite force raided Noapara bypass area and arrested Rezaul along with the arms at about 2.00pm. Rab later handed over him to Baraigram police station.
