Two youths get life for murder in Chandpur
A court here on Wednesday convicted two youths and sentenced them to life imprisonment in a murder case.
The court also fined the convicts Sohel Rana, 21, son of Shamsul Islam Pathan and Sohel, 23, son of Ruhul Amin Gazi of Madangan village in Faridganj upazila Tk 2 lakh each, in default, to suffer five years more imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, the convicts strangled Sumon Chandra Das, 19, a worker of a jewelry shop of Chandra Bazar and son of Dilip Chandra Das of the upazila, over previous enmity at about 2:30am on December 19, 2006.
Sumon's father filed a murder case against three people including Sohel Rana and Sohel with Faridganj PS.
On investigation, police submitted charge sheet against them.
After examining the records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge Shafiqul Karim handed down the verdict, acquitting another accused Ripon.
