20 shops gutted
At least 20 shops were gutted in a devastating fire which broke out at a bazaar in Ketarmor area on Kurigram-Chilmari road in Ulipur upazila on Tuesday afternoon. Local people said the fire originated from an electrical short circuit at a shop at about 2pm and soon burned down the adjoining 19 shops. On information, fire fighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze with the help of local people. The affected shop owners claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk 60 lakh.
