Two cases were filed on Tuesday night with Raipura police station in connection with the attack on BNP activists allegedly by Awami League men that left 15 people injured on the previous day. Police said Wazur Rahman, younger brother of Faizur Rahman, vice-president of Narsingdi district unit of BNP, filed one case against 100-150 unidentified people with Raipura police station in connection with the attack. In his case statement, Wazur alleged that the accused all of a sudden attacked the BNP supporters, leaving at least 15 injured. Ten houses were ransacked during the attack, he said. Meanwhile, Awami League leader and Mirzapur union parishad (UP) chairman Manzur Elahi filed another case with the same police station against 10-15 people for the same incident. In his case, Manzur alleged that the 10-15 unidentified people carried out attack and ransacked the houses of the victims on the day. Earlier, on Monday night, at least 15 people, including BNP activists, were injured and 10 houses damaged in an attack allegedly by Awami League activists at Pirpur village in Raipura upazila. Police said there had been a longstanding dispute between local AL leader and Mirzapur union parishad chairman Manzur Elahi and former chairman Faizur Rahman, vice-president of the district unit of BNP, over establishing dominance in the area.
