Gamblers stab 4 teenage boys
Two arrested in Pabna
Gamblers stabbed four teenage boys at Sadhupara village in Sadar upazila on Friday evening.
Police arrested one Md Parvez Hossain, 25, and Shahidul Islam Shahid, 45, of the village in this connection.
The injured were identified as Nasir Hossain, 15, son of Farid Hossain, Joynal Uddin, 14, son of Jalal Uddin, Mehedi Hossain, 14, son of Kawsar Hossain, and Auntar, 14, son of Eunus Ali of Mondolpara village.
Md Afzal Hossain, officer in-charge at Sadar police station, said the boys were playing cricket at the village in the afternoon.
When the game was on, a ball sailed over the field and hit one of the members of the gang who were gambling in a nearby compound.
When the boys went there to bring the ball, the gamblers hurled abuses at them and locked in an altercation.
At a stage, the gang attacked the four with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured.
They were rushed to the hospitals, said the OC.
Away in Narail, a four-year-old boy was killed allegedly by his 'drug addict' father at Kumri village in Lohagara upazila early Friday over a family feud.
The deceased was identified as Siam Sheikh, son of Mukul Sheikh of the village, reports our correspondent.
Akram Hossain, officer in-charge at Lohagara police station, said Mukul returned home drunken at midnight and locked in an altercation with his wife.
At one stage, he threw Siam to the ground from the bed, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Narail Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
They also arrested Mukul, said the OC.
