Toxic gas kills 3 in septic tank
Three day labourers died and another sustained injuries after inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank in Gilatala area in the city on Tuesday night.
The deceased were identified as Saiful, 38, Sarwar, 38, and Shahidul, 40.
Shahidul Haque, officer in-charge of Khanjahan Ali police station, said the incident occurred at around 7:30pm when the victims went to the home of Al-Amin Sheikh of the area to clean a septic tank.
The house owner informed police and firefighters as he got no response from them even after an hour of their entry into the tank.
Later, the firefighters rescued the four but three of them died at hospital, OC said.
