20 hurt in bomb attack by robbers in Meherpur

At least 20 people were injured as a gang of robbers threw bombs on them at Dhakhola village in Gangni upazila of Meherpur on Sunday night. Bimol Krishna Mallick, officer in-charge (OC) of Gangni police station said, a gang of 12/14 robbers entered into the house of Mokhles Uddin at the village at about 2.30am. They tied up the family members and started to loot valuables. When Ikhlas Uddin, younger brother of Mokhles, cried for help, local people rushed to the spot and chased the gang. The robbers, while fleeing, threw several bombs on the villagers, leaving at least 20 of them injured. Of the injured, Tareq, 22, Akmol, 22, Tizam, 33, Bakkar, 45, Abdus Samad, 45 and Khejmat Ali, 55 were admitted to Gangni upazila health complex. Later Khejmat was shifted to Kushtia general hospital and Samad to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
