2 BCL men remanded in arms case in Barisal

A court here on Wednesday placed two activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on a two-day remand in connection with a case filed under the arms act. The accused are Sheikh Mukituzaman Rony, convening committee member and Sahadat Hosen Sourav, city BCL joint convener. Of them, Rony is son of city Awami League convening committee member Sheikh Fariduddin and district Mohila AL president Fazilatunnesa Farid. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Zahidul Kabir issued the order after sub-inspector MR Mukul of Kotwali police station, also investigation officer of the case, produced the duo before the court, seeking five-day remand, said OC Matiur Rahman of the PS. Court sources said, on secret information, a special team of Rab-8 raided Raza Bahadur Sarak area of the city on July 19 and arrested Rony and Sourav. The team also recovered a foreign made pistol, a magazine and five bullets from their possession.
