Co-accused of Limon surrenders to court
Md Jahangir Zamaddar, charge-sheeted along with college student Limon Hossain in two cases filed by Rab on March 23, 2011, surrendered to Jhalakathi courts yesterday.
Police pressed charges against Limon and seven others in two cases---one filed under the Arms Act another for obstructing law enforcers from performing their duties.
Court sources said Jahangir, son of Hamid Zamaddar of Noikathi village under Razapur upazila of Jhalakathi district, surrendered to the Special Tribunal in connection with the arms case.
Manzurul Imam, judge of the tribunal, rejected the bail prayer and sent him to jail. Later, police produced Jahangir before the Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court where he surrendered in connection with the second case and sought bail.
Magistrate Shamsul Alam also sent Jahangir to jail, rejecting his bail prayer. The hearing on charge framing will be held at the Judicial Magistrate's Court on September 2 while at the Special Tribunal on September 16, court sources said.
Sub-Inspector Ariful Islam, also the investigation officer of the two cases, submitted charge sheets against Limon, Morshed, Zamal, Hatu Mizan, Jahangir Zamaddar, Halim , Labu Zamaddar and Sumon on April 24, 2011 and July 1, 2012.
Limon, who was maimed by Rab shooting in Jhalakathi on March 23, 2011, was earlier granted bail in both the cases.
