2 children drown
Two children drowned in Kodla River at Islampur village in Moheshpur upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Sourav, 7, son of Rawshan Ali and his cousin Rhidoy, 9, son of Waez Uddin of the village.
Family sources said Sourav and Rhidoy went to the river near their house taking bath at about 3:00pm and at one stage they slipped deep into the river and drowned.
Later, local people recovered the bodies from the river and handed over them to their family members.
A pall of gloom descended over the area following the tragic deaths of the two kids.
