Robbers kill fisherman on Meghna
Robbers shot dead a fisherman and wounded six others on the Meghna River early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Siraj.
Witnesses said a gang of robbers belonging to 'Swapan Bahini' swooped on a fishing trawler on the river at around 12:30 am in a bid to loot fish, fishing net and other valuables.
They opened fire on the fishermen, leaving Siraj dead on the spot and six others injured.
Three of the injured were admitted to Tojmuddin Hospital while the rest to Bhola Sadar Hospital. Coastguards could not arrest any of the gang members as of 5:00pm yesterday.
