PCJSS faction leader shot

Gunmen sprayed bullets on a leader of the reformist faction of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) in Rubber Bagan area of Dighinala upazila on Saturday afternoon. Seriously injured, he was identified as Preeti Khisha Chakma, 40, general secretary of PCJSS Marung union unit and son of Purnasur Khisha of Baradam area in the upazila. A gang of 5-6 masked armed men of Shantu Larma group opened fire on Preeti Khisha around 5.00pm while he was returning home from party meeting held in Marung Bazar area, said Pritimoy Chakma, president of PCJSS (M.N Larma group) Dighinala upazila unit. Officer in-charge of Dighinala police station Sahadat Hossain Titu said, on information police rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and admitted him to Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital around 06:30pm. Later the duty doctor referred him to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated, the OC added. Contacted, duty doctor at Khagrachhari Adhunik Sadar Hospital Khirul Alam said, Preeti Khisha received three bullets in his face, left ear and knee. Talking to this correspondent, press secretary of Santu Larma led PCJSS Sajib Chakma refuted the allegation against his partymen and said that the incident might be a sequel to internal feud in the rival faction, he added. Earlier on April 12, Supranu Chakma, 45, general secretary of PCJSS (MN Larma) Dighinala unit, was shot dead allegedly by the rivals at Baradam village of the upazila.
