Bipul's 'main killer' still at large

Hajee Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) of Dinajpur, which was closed on June 11 following the death of a student, reopened yesterday. After the death of Fahim Mahfuz Bipul, 23, of final year Veterinary Science on June 9, Dr Boloram Roy, acting registrar of HSTU, filed a case with Dinajpur police station, accusing six people including Mrinal Kumar Goswami, a suspended class four employee of the university. The other accused were unidentified. Police later arrested two people in this connection. Demanding arrest of Mrinal and other accused, students, teachers and employees of the university yesterday formed a human chain on Dinajpur-Dhaka highway near the campus. A mourning procession was also brought out on the campus. Fahim Mahfuz Bipul, also vice president of HSTU Chhatra League, was attacked by some outsiders led by Mrinal Kumar Goswami and stabbed in broad daylight near the campus. Locals rescued Bipul and took him to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Md Abdul Mojid, investigation officer (IO) of the murder case, said police arrested Kamruzzaman Kamu, 22, son of Fazlur Rahman of Karnai village under Dinajpur Sadar upazila and Ali Akbar Liton, 20, son of Md Shamsul Haque of Mostafabag under Dinajpur town. However, prime accused Mrinal is still at large, he said.
