Cases filed against Unipay2u officials in Sylhet, Jessore
Two cases were filed against the top officials of Unipay2u Bangladesh Ltd. in Sylhet and Jessore districts on Wednesday on charge of misappropriating money of their clients.
In Sylhet, a case was filed with the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court against eight officials of the so-called multi-level company, including its chairman Shahiduzzaman and managing director Muntasir Hossain alias Emon, reports UNB.
The other accused are general manager and director of the company Jamshedur Rahman Jamshed, DMD Abu Taher, advisor Manjur Ehsan Chowdhury alias Mithu, directors Abdul Jalil and Major (retd) MA Mukit and agent Abdul Basit Nabil.
Judge of the court Abu Syed M Dilzar Hossain took cognizance of the case filed by a cheated client, Golam Sarwar, and ordered the officer in-charge of Sylhet Kotwali police station to investigate the complaint.
In his case statement, the complainant said the accused took Tk 4.27 crore from him and eight other witnesses of the case from May 5, 2010 to May 5, 2012 alluring them of giving double profit against the investment in 10 months.
But Unipay2u did not return the capital and the profits after the clients demanded those.
In Jessore, a court issued warrants for arrest of four officials of the company after a case was filed against them on Wednesday, reports our Benapole correspondent.
Jhikargachha Senior Judicial Magistrate Court passed the order after Abdul Gafur, a client filed a case against the four officials on charge of misappropriating his Tk 14.20 lakh.
The accused are director general Muntasir Hossain alias Emon, general manager and director Jamshedur Rahman Jamshed and local agents Saiful Islam Firoz and Abdur Razzak Raju.
According to the case statement, the officials of the MLM company took around Tk 14.20 lakh from schoolteacher Abdul Gafur, son of Solaiman Sardar of Basatpur village in Sharsa upazila of the district, from February to March last year, promising to give high interest.
But the company did not return his money or paid the interests and threatened the complainant of dire consequences if he demanded the amount, it said.
