Young learners spent a joyful day as they took part in amusing interactions at English language fairs held at nine schools in Jhenidah, Panchagarh, Shariatpur and Madaripur districts yesterday. Under English in Schools (EIS) programme, The Daily Star and mobile operator Robi jointly organised the fairs in coordination with the education ministry. Adcomm Ltd is the creative and event partner of the fairs. Our correspondent from Jhenidah reported that over 150 students of Harinakundo Government girls' School and Priyanath Secondary School joined the English language fair held at Harinakundo Government Girls' School auditorium. Afia Khanam, headmaster of the school, inaugurated the fair at around 11:00am. Teachers of the two institutions, guardians of the students and Robi Area Manager Raihan Kabir were present. Following screening of The Lion King, a globally renowned movie, the students participated in spot quiz, vocabulary test, and situation based question answer-all based on the movie. Selected students took part in extempore speech on different topics and role play. In Panchagrah, around 300 students from Panchagarh Government Girls' High School, Bishnuprashad Government Boys' High School in Panchagarh town and Jagdal High School in Sadar upazila eagerly took part in different events at the English language fair held at the auditorium of Panchagarh Government Girls' High School auditorium, according to our Thakurgaon correspondent. Rekha Rani Devi, headmaster of Panchagarh Government Girls' High School, opened the fair at around 11:00am. After watching The Lion King, a globally renowned movie, students participated in spot quiz, vocabulary test, one-word question and quick questions and role play--all based on the movie. Eighteen students won different competitions. Prizes were distributed among the winners at the end of the programme. Our Madaripur correspondent adds: Kids from Bhedarganj High School and Sajanpur Islamia High School under Bhedarganj upazila in Shariatpur district joined the fair held at Bhedarganj High School auditorium. Over 250 students of the two schools took part in different events at the fair. Prizes were distributed among the winners at the end of the programme. In Madaripur, Students of Madaripur Girls' High School and Sheikh Shahidul Islam High School joined the English language fair at Madaripur Girls' High School in the morning. Following screening of Lion king, at least 250 students participated in spot quiz, vocabulary test and situation based question answer-all based on the movie. Prizes were distributed among the winners of different competitions at the end of the programme.
