Piranha, hilsa fry seized
A mobile court seized 640 kg of contraband Piranhas and around one tonne of hilsha fry worth around Tk 1.98 lakh in the port city yesterday.
It also fined the owner of the boat carrying the fishes Tk 10,000.
Led by Chittagong District Administration Executive Magistrate Md Najmul Islam Sarker, the court conducted a drive in the Fishery Ghat area in Kotwali from 5:50am to 8.20am and seized the fishes and the boat, said a press release.
The court later sold out the fishes in an auction at Tk 1.98 lakh, which was deposited to the government treasury.
