Tributes to two martyred RU teachers
Rajshahi University (RU) observed memorial programmes yesterday and on Saturday commemorating the sacrifices of two of its teachers who embraced martyrdom during the 1971 Liberation War.
Shaheed Prof Sukhranjan Samaddar and Shaheed Prof Habibur Rahman were killed by the Pakistani army on April 14 and 15 respectively in 1971 for assisting the freedom fighters.
Yesterday, teachers and students led by Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan placed a wreath at Prof Habibur's monument before Shaheed Habibur Rahman Hall at around 9:30am.
The RU authorities also organised a discussion and Qurankhwani in the hall after Asr prayers.
On Saturday, the teachers and students placed a wreath by Prof Sukhranjan's grave at the Central Library premises and held a rally.
