A burglary occurred in three offices at Lokman Tower, a commercial building, at Sk Mujib Road in the port city on Saturday night. The employees of the offices found the evidence of the burglary when they came to their offices, housed in the 3rd and 4th floor of the tower, yesterday morning. Bikash Chandra Chowdhury, sub-inspector of Double Mooring Police Station, said, “Closed-Circuit (CC) camera of the building remained stopped from 8:00pm of Saturday to 6:00pm of Sunday. We think the crime happened in the meantime.” He said, “The thieves entered the office of Prime Distributions, Community Trade Link and Pegasus Sewing Machine, a garment accessories office. Prime Distributions and Community Trade Link are authorised distributors of mobile phone service provider companies--Robi and Banglalink. They also tried to enter the regional office of Bashundhara Group but failed.” Liton Baral, manager of Community Trade Link, said, “The burglars entered our office through breaking open the door and took away valuables and documents, including 2,600 SIM cards, one laptop, a few internet modems and cash of Tk 3.80 lakh.” Rahedul Alam, owner of Prime Distribution, said the criminals took 1,600 SIM cards, cash of Tk 3.50 lakh, scratch cards, one laptop and a few modems from his office. Thieves took away one laptop, one digital camera and cash of Tk 10,000 from the office of Pegasus Sewing Machine, said an official of the organisation. Jahirul Huq, manager of Bashundhara Group, Chittagong regional office said, “Burglars broke open the glass of the door of our office but failed to enter.”
