32,000 posts created in police
Shahara tells inaugural function of a new police station
Home Minister Shahara Khatun yesterday said the government has created 32,000 posts in police force in line with their election pledges to provide jobs every house.
“Around 16 to 17 thousands people have already been recruited in police administration and remaining others will be appointed in phases during the tenure of the government,” she said while inaugurating the newly established Bhashantek Police Station.
She asked the law enforcers to arrest local criminal Rahim for his alleged involvement in grabbing land at Bhashantek Rehabilitation Centre.
Local lawmaker Kamal Ahmed Majumder said the new police station will help curb crimes, especially drug trading in the area.
Lawmaker Shahida Tareq Dipti, Inspector General of Police Hasan Mahmood Khandker, and Deputy Commissioner of Police of Mirpur Zone Imtiaj Ahmed also spoke. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Benazir Ahmed presided over the function.
