Nahid to get WEC award
The World Education Congress (WEC) has decided to honour Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid for his outstanding contribution to the education sector of Bangladesh.
An award, consisting of a trophy and a citation, will be handed over to Nahid at the First Congress of WEC 2012 scheduled to be held on June 29 and 30 at Mumbai in India, says an official handout.
Edward Smith, chairman of Award and Academic Committee of WEC, in a letter, said the jury and the council board of members will confer the award on Nahid.
In the letter to the minister, Smith said, “Your leadership and contribution to the field of education is well known. The position that you occupy in the fraternity is strategic and iconic. As a thinker and doer you are a role model and a believer in change.”
