8th Wage Board
6-hour work abstention today
Sangbadik Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad (SSKOP), an organisation of journalists, employees and workers of newspapers and news agencies, will observe six-hour work abstention from 10:00am to 4:00pm today, demanding declaration of the 8th wage board.
Newspaper workers and employees will also hold protest rally in front of Jatiya Press Club at 11:00am, said a press release.
In an extended meeting held at the press club yesterday, the SSKOP leaders urged all working in newspapers and news agencies to participate in the programmes.
The meeting strongly condemned and criticised the information minister, as he is yet to issue a gazette notification on the 8th wage board despite the prime minister's directive.
The SSKOP leaders also expressed resentment for use of dilly-dallying tactics by the information minister and non-cooperation of the Newspapers Owners Association of Bangladesh (Noab).
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) President Ruhul Amin Gazi chaired the meeting.
