Ruet reopens amid tight security

Classes at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) will resume today amid tight security after 14 days closure over the killing of Aziz Khan Sajib, a BCL leader of the university unit. The dormitories of both male and female reopened yesterday. Ruet Vice Chancellor Prof Sirajul Karim Chowdhury asked all the students to attend their respective classes in time. Meanwhile, the authorities have taken tight security measures to avert any untoward situation on the campus. Sajib, a civil engineering student of Ruet, also the organising secretary of the university's Zia Hall unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), was injured in an attack by a rival group on March 12. He succumbed to his injures at Habib Clinic in Savar on March 16. Following the incident, the authorities had closed the university till March 29 to avoid further violence on the campus.
