Sajib killing: 10 Ruet students served show-cause notice

The authorities of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (Ruet) issued show-cause notices to 10 students alleged of being responsible for the death of Aziz Khan Sajib. They also ordered the students not to attend any classes, examinations or enter the campus until they explain themselves to the authorities. The students were Sufian Alam, S M Enamul Haque, Shafique Ahmed Tanvir, Mirza Abu Golam Rasel and Ahmed Ruhul Kuddus of Ruet civil engineering department; Rezwan Ahmed of mechanical engineering department; Tanvir Ahmed, Mohaiminul Haque Polash, Sultan Rajibul Islam and Jahangir Alam of electrical and electronic engineering department. Ruet Vice-Chancellor Prof Sirajul Karim Chowdhury said the decision to serve the notice was taken on Thursday following recommendation from the probe committee formed to investigate into Sajib's death. "If the concerned students fail to show appropriate reasons within 15 days, they could be expelled,” he added. Sajib, 25, a student of Ruet civil engineering department, also the organising secretary of the university's Zia Hall unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), suffered injuries to his head and chest in an attack by rival faction BCL men on March 12. Sajib later succumbed to his injures at Habib Clinic in Savar on March 16.
