Students engage in English learning spree
A daylong English Language Fair was held in two schools of Jamalpur and Rajshahi yesterday.
The Daily Star and Robi jointly organised the fair to improve the proficiency of secondary school students in English.
Our correspondent from Jamalpur reports: Around 60 students of Reaz Uddin Talukder High School of the district's Sharishabari upazila took part in the fair.
The school's Assistant Teacher Wazeda Parvin Swapna inaugurated the programme.
The fair began with the screening of a movie, The Lion King. Afterwards, quizzes and competitions on vocabulary, moral lessons, extempore speech and role playing and writing picture descriptions were held based on the movie.
Students also entertained the audience by reciting poems, telling jokes and singing songs. Later, prizes were distributed among the winners.
Our Rajshahi University correspondent adds: Over 100 students of Maskatadighi Multi Technology High School in Rajshahi took part in the fair.
The school's Assistant Headmaster Abdul Hakim inaugurated the programme.
The movie was also screened here, based on which the students took part in the quizzes and competitions. Prizes were later distributed among the winners.
Under English in Schools programme, the fair in also being coordinated by the education ministry while Adcomm Ltd is the creative and event partner.
