Solution to land dispute in CHT demanded
Speakers yesterday demanded the government's effective steps to resolve longstanding land dispute of indigenous people in Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) immediately.
Terming land dispute the root of other problems in indigenous communities, they said significant progress would be made in implementation of the CHT Peace Accord-1997 if the land dispute was solved.
They placed the demand at a press conference, organised by Nagorik Sanghati at Dhaka Reporters' Unity.
Nagorik Sanghati General Secretary Sharifuzzaman Sharif read out the statement at the press event.
Social activist Aminur Rasul Babul and Bangladesh Paribesh Andolan (Bapa) Joint Secretary Mihir Biswas also spoke at the press conference.
