62,000 contraband cigarettes seized
Customs officials seized 62,000 contraband cigarettes, worth to be around Tk 5 lakh, at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport yesterday.
The cigarettes, packed in an unmarked cardboard box, arrived from Pakistan at 10:35pm and none claimed it at the conveyor belt, said Assistant Commissioner of Airport Customs Mohammed Shahidul Islam.
No arrests had been made, but inquiries were ongoing, he added.
