Dhaka highest contributor of policewomen to UN
Bangladesh is the highest contributor of female police to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping operations with a total of 211 female officers deployed in it.
Ann-Marie Orler, the highest ranking police official of the UN system, said this in a statement of the UN Information Centre, Dhaka yesterday.
Bangladesh's contribution is helping the UN to progress towards its goal of having 20% female police deployment to the peacekeeping operations that is currently 10.4%, she said.
Bangladesh currently deploys female police to seven UN peacekeeping missions at the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Timor-Leste, Haiti, Liberia, Sudan and South Sudan.
