Boy drowns in Natyamancha pond

An unidentified teenage boy yesterday evening drowned in a pond in the capital's Mohanagar Natyamancha when he was trying to lift a cricket ball from the water in exchange of Tk 10. Station officer of Fire Service Phulbaria Headquarters Md Abdus Shahid told The Daily Star that the ball fell into the pond while some boys were playing cricket around 5:00pm. When the unidentified hapless victim was asked to dive into the pond to recover the ball in exchange of the money, he jumped into it and swam to middle of the pond and drowned. On information, the divers recovered the body at around 7:00pm and handed over to police. Paltan Police Station SI Humayun Kabir said the body was kept at Mohanagar Natyamancha to find out the identity.
