Leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the party which opposed Bangladesh's independence struggle in 1971, yesterday claimed that the party's popularity is increasing due to the role of the war crimes tribunal. "We are gaining popularity among the general people because of the tribunal's controversial roles. People don't trust this tribunal any more," said Dhaka city unit Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Prof AKM Nazir Ahmad at a discussion. "War crimes tribunal is nothing but a showpiece," he added. The city unit Jamaat arranged the discussion marking the 41st Independence Day at Jatiya Press Club.
