One to die for killing schoolboy
One person was sentenced to death yesterday for killing a schoolboy in January last year.
Judge Mohammad Motahar Hossain of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 handed down the sentence in presence of the convict Tajul Islam alias Sagar at a packed courtroom.
Dipto Das Shuvo, the first boy of class-IV of Gendaria High School, was killed by his neighbours. Later, they drowned Shuvo in a water drum and stabbed his father Bibhuti Ranjan Das at their house on January 8 last year.
The convict also looted around Tk 30,000 from the locker of the house.
Shuvo's parents present at the court expressed their satisfaction, urging the government to execute the court verdict immediately.
Earlier, the prosecution and the defence completed their arguments and the court recorded statements of 25 prosecution witnesses.
Shuvo's father filed a murder case against Sagor with Gendaria Police Station after the incident.
According to the prosecution, victim's father alleged that Sagar's mother had a quarrel with his wife on June 23, 2009 over entering his house and since then a hostile relation developed between the two families that led to the incident.
Sub-Inspector Moniruzzaman, also the investigation officer of the case, pressed charge against Sagar on June 27 last year.
Special Public Prosecutor SM Rafiqul Islam appeared for the state.
