Ctg judge urges professionals

Md Rezaul Karim, judge of women and children repression prevention tribunal-1, Chittagong, urged all professionals to deliver proper services to people from all walks of life. "Do not harass people when they come to you." He said yesterday while speaking as chief guest at a workshop, titled “Access to justice”, in the port city. He also stressed the need for a separate family court in Chittagong to give justice to victims and to resolve family related cases. Demanding proper justice to women and children, the workshop was organised by Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation (BHRF) and supported by Manoser Jonno Foundation. It was chaired by Advocate Alena Khan, chairperson and chief executive of BHRF, while Nishaduzzaman, senior assistant judge of Chittagong court, and Md Mahabubur Rahaman, metropolitan magistrate, were present as special guest. Shamsuddin Harun, bureau in-charge of The Daily Shokaler Khabor, said disclosing victim's photograph and name in both print and electronic media has been decreased at present. "To help victims regarding DNA test, we always try to give appropriate report in all cases," said Dr Nasir, secretary of Bangladesh Medical Association. Lawyers, police officers, doctors, journalists, students and human rights activists took part in the workshop.
