'Cattle lifter' lynched
An alleged cattle thief was lynched in Nandina village in the sadar upazila on Thursday night.
The deceased is Rafiqul Islam, 35, son of Manjil Mia of Rangaliagati village in the upazila.
Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Shahid Alam, quoting local people, said he died instantly while mob beat him at about 2:00am. The victim's other associates, however, managed to flee.
Police sent the body to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy yesterday morning.
