Dr Kamal recognises success of int'l law
Acclaiming the recent victory of Bangladesh over Myanmar on maritime disputes, eminent jurist Dr Kamal Hossain has recognised the contribution and success of the international law.
The success of international law depends on the collaborative approaches and practices by different states, he said underscoring the need for consensuses among the states for realisation of individuals' rights under the international law.
He made the remarks while presiding over a roundtable on “International Law Issues and Bangladesh” at the city's BRAC Centre Inn on Monday.
The South Asian Institute of Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies (SAILS) and the International Law Association Bangladesh Branch (ILABB) have jointly organised the programme, a SAILS press release.
At the roundtable, there were thematic presentations on international relations, international human rights and humanitarian law, climate change and war crimes issues in the context of Bangladesh.
Prof Ainun Nishat, vice chancellor of BRAC University, Prof Imtiaz Ahmed,
Prof Borhan Uddin Khan and Prof Asif Nazrul from Dhaka University, Dr Tureen Afroz of BRAC University and Dr Sharif Bhuiyan also spoke at the programme.
