HC summons Bhurungamari UNO
The High Court yesterday summoned Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Bhurungamari in Kurigram for not taking action against people responsible for cutting down trees on Char Bhurungamari High School premises.
UNO Hamidul Huq has to appear before the HC bench of Justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik and Justice Jahangir Hossain Selim by 10:30am on February 20 to explain his conduct, Deputy Attorney General ABM Altaf Hossain told The Daily Star.
Earlier in January, the HC following a writ petition ordered Hamidul Huq to file a case under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and the Penal Code against those people who cut the trees.
Petitioner's counsel Manzill Murshid yesterday told the court that the UNO has not taken any steps against the persons as per the HC directives.
