Charges framed against Jugantor editor
A Dhaka court yesterday framed charges against the editor, executive editor and a reporter of the Daily Jugantor in connection with a defamation case filed by the shipping minister in September last year.
The defendants are editor Salma Islam, executive editor Saiful Alam and reporter Jashim Chowdhury Shabuj.
Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-ur-Rashid fixed March 1 for starting the trial of the case.
Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on last September 13 filed the case against the three on charges of publishing two news items with headlines saying 'Wastage of crores of taka by shipping minister in the name of experience' and '14 trips abroad' in the newspaper on August 24 and 25.
