DoE fines 2 factories Tk 18 lakh
The Department of Environment (DoE) fined two factories Tk 18 lakh on charge of polluting Satarkul canal at Badda in the capital.
In two separate drives, a DoE team led by its director (monitoring and enforcement) Mohammed Munir Chwodhury, yesterday fined Md Ariful Haq and Zahirul Islam, the factory owners, Tk 18 lakh and ordered them to relocate the dyeing factories.
The factories, Shining Washing Plant and Ashraf Washing Plant, having no environment clearance certificates, discharged over one lakh cubic feet of toxic wastes into the canal, assessed the DoE officials.
