College Student Murder
Three accused on five-day remand
Police yesterday placed the three persons, arrested in connection with the killing of a college student in Rajshahi city, on a five-day remand each.
They also seized some evidences including a knife, a chadar (cloak), and a blanket used for killing Nadimuzzaman Saad, first year student of Rajshahi Model School and College.
Meanwhile, the Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara Police Station, Mokarram Hossain, was closed last night to Rajshahi Police Line following complaints that he did not take the victim's family's concerns into account while told that Saad had gone missing.
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Masud Ibne Ali alias Shawan, Kaysar Ahmed Anik and Rashedul Islam Bipu, all HSC examinees of Barendra College, on Wednesday.
On their statements, Rab recovered the body of Saad from the sewer of a private dormitory in the city's Sheroil Mothpukur area.
The three arrestees were taken on remand after police placed them before the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Rajshahi with a 10-day remand prayer for each yesterday.
Sub-inspector Alamgir Jahan of Rajpara Police Station, who is investigating the case, said the arrestees confessed that they planned the murder six days before killing Saad as the fugitive accused--Sweet and Koel--in the case asked them to do so.
Police raided the room of Masud at Alauddin Private Dormitory in the city's Chamrapatty area and seized the evidences from the room, the SI said.
He said Anik told police that Sweet offered them money for the killing that was planned over a love affair.
Saad was abducted from his house on the evening of January 17 and was killed the next dawn at the dormitory. His body was dumped in the sewer afterwards.
SM Zarjis Kadir, principal of Rajshahi Model School and College, said Saad was admitted to the college one year ago after passing his SSC examinations with GPA-5.
