Fire at Ctg RMG factory, 11 hurt
At least 11, including nine female garment workers, were injured in stampede after a fire broke out in a five-storey garment factory at Dhanialapara in the port city yesterday afternoon.
The injured are Halima Akter, 22, Taslima, 28, Ankhi, 20, Anju, 20, Rabea, 19, Momena 20, Anu, 18, Harbanu, 21, Shirin, 20 and Delwar, 25.
Hearing the news fire, the garment workers of the GR Apparels Factory getting panicky came down to the stairs from the second, third and fourth floors and tried to get down all together leaving at least 11 workers injured.
Agrabad Fire Station sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit on the first floor of the factory at about 2:30pm and engulfed the garment wastage kept on the floor.
