Fire guts Bijoynagar shop
A fire in a shop situated in a high-rise building in the city's Bijoynagar area yesterday gutted a huge amount of stored goods.
Fire brigade sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit in the warehouse of the shop, Swapno, on the first floor of the 10-storied “Tropa Complex” around 11:45am.
Three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flames in around one hour while residents on the other floors were evacuated, they added.
