Sylhet BNP demands withdrawal of 'false cases'

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet
Sylhet district and city unit BNP yesterday staged a three-hour long token hunger strike and a rally to press for withdrawal of 'false cases' against their district president and other party men. Sylhet city BNP Chief MA Haque chaired the programme while its Vice-President Nasim Hossain and General Secretary Abdul Quaiyum Jalali addressed among others in the city's Central Shaheed Minar. The local BNP activists went berserk in different areas of the city on December18 hearing the news of death a BNP man in the capital during a clash with police. The activists vandalised about 30 vehicles in Sylhet while an unidentified man was burnt to death in a passenger bus after it was set ablaze. Six cases were filed in this connection accusing more than a hundred BNP men including the district President M Ilyas Ali.
