Outlaw beaten to death
An alleged operative of an outlawed party was beaten to death at Mongolgram village in Faridpur upazila under the district on Tuesday night.
He was identified as Md Janu Mollah, 28, son of Mojai Mollah of Nagdemra village in Santhia upazila. Janu was an operative of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) Janajudhha faction, police said.
Angry mob beat him dead at about 10:00 pm on Tuesday when some outlaws demanded illegal toll from the shop owners at Mongolgram market, they said.
Officer in-charge of Faridpur police station Md Abdul Hamid said when Janu along with his accomplices demanded money, the shopkeepers besieged them and beat Janu Mollah to death in the crowded market.
Meanwhile, Janu's brother Faruk Mollah filed a case with Faridpur police station accusing 3 to 4 hundred anonymous people, the OC added.
