2 die after drinking spurious liquor
Two people died while three fell sick after drinking spurious liquor at Sadhuhati in Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The deceased were identified as Badal Mondol, 50, son of Ahad Ali and Ali Asgar, 45, son of Khukai Mondol of Sadhuhati village.
Police said five people of the village fell sick after drinking rectified spirit on Wednesday night.
Among them, Badal and Asgar were admitted to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital.
Asgar died in the morning while Badal died on way to hospital in the early hours of yesterday. Those still being treated are Yakub Ali, Robiul Islam and Idris Ali.
Police said they bought the liquor from a local shop at the sweepers' colony at Dakbangla Bazar.
Family members of both the deceased, however, claimed that Asgar and Badal died of heart attack.
